History

The story so far
15 May 2007

This side was originally run playing small sided football by Nigel "Nigga" Walkden & the late John Hindson who both laid the foundations for a highly competative team with a great emphasis on fun,Nigga & Hiney took the side forwards into 11 a side football & looked to be forming a really useful looking team but following terribly sad circumstances in the 2004/2005 season there began a desperate search for a new manager. Jimmy Goltze stepped in becomming the "gaffa" on 3rd October 2004. Jimmy's first match in charge was a cup 1st round defeat 3-2 by Edenthorpe Panthers, but from this start he continued on until the end of the season, finishing mid table in the under 12 premier division.Come the seasons end Jimmy parted company with the club to take up a scouting position with a professional outfit but we must remain grateful for his efforts in keeping the team going. At this point both Keith Watts & Myself took up the baton, having taken our previous Scorpions team through to the under 18 age group we dropped down to give this team some stabality. We began the 2005/2006 season with players inherited from Jimmy, only to see a few players leave early season. This led us to sometimes only being able to field 9 or 10 players & as a result we ended the season 2nd from bottom & relegated to the 1st division!
Come the seasons end the majority of our players showed great loyalty to the club & stayed with us,& a new batch of boys were brought in to bring the squad back up to full strength.
The 2006/2007 season saw us in the 1st division but what a season it was to become. Exceptional coaching on Keith's part & a great effort by the lads saw us win the title & secure our return to the premier division at the 1st time of asking. The side only losing 1 league fixture all season, 2 drawn results & 17 winning matches saw us unbeaten at home, winning the title with 36 points 3 points clear of our nearest rivals. Scoring 89 goals & conceding 25 we had given a great account of ourselves, as for the next season 2007/2008 we look forward to more of the free flowing football the side is now well acclaimed for.
yours in sport, Phil Wilkinson
